Removal of coils on the face

Individual coils are removed purposefully by electrocoagulation. We use an electrosurgical device for this. An electric needle with heat destroys the tissue of the blood vessel and it closes. Immediately after the treatment, a small scab remains in the area, which heals in two weeks with a small scar. Electrocoagulation is also suitable for the removal of skin growths and spider marks. This method is mainly used when removing small, point coils.

If it is not just an aesthetic problem, but an inflammatory skin disease of the face – rosacea, we treat it with intense pulsed light therapy (IPL).

Rosacea is first manifested by reddening of the skin, mostly on the cheeks or nose, and dilated veins. It most often affects people belonging to light phototypes. Gradually, red inflammatory pimples or blisters may appear. The disease can be provoked by heat or excessive sun exposure. In this case, activities that are irritating to the disease, such as sauna, direct sun, hot thermal baths or heating with an infrared lamp, should be avoided.

IPL therapy reduces the coils and gradually removes the redness through the action of an optimally selected program. The walls of the coils coagulate and the choroid becomes invisible. After the procedure, the redness may become even more pronounced, but this will disappear after a few hours. Some coils may reappear, so the procedure needs to be repeated.

For better results, it is advisable to use creams or gels designed for reddened skin, which improve the reactivity of skin blood vessels, in synergy with the treatment and to achieve long-term results. The most suitable periods for the procedure are autumn and winter.

Growths are any skin protrusions not normally found on healthy skin. They can pose an aesthetic problem without health risks. For example, fibromas – mucosal growths, warts, hemangiomas, myomas, xanthelasmas and the like. However, there are also growths that can indicate a serious health problem or even a life-threatening condition. Like moles, skin growths should be checked by a dermatologist once in a while.

As the origin of the growths can vary, they must always be examined first by a dermatologist before they are removed.

He also decides whether to send them for histological examination after removal; every surgically removed growth is sent for examination. The method of removal is chosen by our specialist according to the size and nature of the growth. The larger ones are usually removed surgically, the smaller ones can be got rid of in another way. Most often a laser or electrocautery is used.

The electrocautery procedure is particularly suitable for pedicle growths. For smaller growths it is quick and relatively painless, for larger ones local anaesthesia can be used. The electrocautery has various attachments and uses high-frequency electric current to remove growths, moles or warts all over the body. It can be used instead of a scalpel. If there are more growths on the body, more sessions are needed.

Any intervention on moles or growths is preceded by a full-body examination of the skin. At the FRAIS Institute of Health and Beauty we offer mole examinations and regular check-ups using the most modern and innovative method – the Photo Finder digital dermatoscope. This way, your marks and any changes in their shape are always under your control. The dermatologist not only checks the current state, but thanks to the memory of the device, he can compare the changes compared to the original state. If necessary, we can immediately proceed to their removal.

You should have your moles checked at least once a year. If you suspect that your mole has changed in any way, you should see a doctor as soon as possible. Of course, not every mole is risky. We know two types of pigmented moles. Surface, so-called. flat moles or spots, or convex moles, known as “lentigines”. The so-called ABCDE rule, which identifies five risk characteristics – Asymmetry, Borders, Colour, Diameter and Evolution – helps to determine whether a sign is at risk. You should increase your attention if the mole has irregular margins, non-uniform colouration, a diameter greater than 5 mm or has started to change in any way. That is, if, for example, a flat mole has become convex. Those that itch, sting, swell or bleed are also at risk. Likewise, have your moles checked by a dermatologist even if there has been a mechanical scratch. You should also have your moles checked and examined regularly before and after the summer season, especially if you have fair skin and blue eyes, i.e. 1. and 2. skin phototype. If you are not sure if your mole is risky, it is better to come and get it checked.

We examine moles with the FotoFinder digital dermatoscope, which allows the dermatologist to magnify the moles 20 to 70 times and capture and colour-code any change, whether it is an individual mole or the entire body. Special software and the ability to archive images of the moles will then allow him to compare any changes over time, for example, since the last annual check-up.

The examination takes a few minutes. If the doctor detects a mole at risk, he or she will recommend an appropriate method to remove it.

Depending on the type and size of the mole, the doctor may decide to remove it either by laser or surgery. Flat, smaller and safe moles, fibromas and growths are usually removed with a high-powered surgical laser. The skin is not damaged by stitching, the brown spot becomes an inconspicuous flat scar. We can also remove bulging moles with the laser, but they must be less than 2 mm in diameter and must not be risky cases.

A dermatoscopic examination is necessary before removing skin growths and moles. The layman often cannot distinguish pigmented nevus from seborrheic verruca. Based on the dermatoscopic examination, the dermatologist will decide on the method of removal. Pigment nevi are not removed by laser. They are removed only surgically with subsequent histological examination. Seborrheic verrucas, hemangiomas and fibromas can be safely removed with the CO2 laser.

Surgical laser in the hands of a specialized skin doctor means a new quality in the removal of benign skin growths. We can also remove numerous seborrhoeic (so called old) warts in all locations on the body and face with the laser, which are a significant aesthetic problem and due to their multiplicity can hardly be removed by other methods. A number of people have moles on their bodies. Some you may not even notice for your whole life and you don’t have to do anything about them, but some can be very dangerous. It depends on the specific type of mole. In addition, each person can only get a certain amount of ultraviolet radiation into the body during his or her lifetime. People with light hair and blue eyes are at greater risk. Frequent sunburn puts your skin at risk and increases the risk of one of the most malignant cancers – malignant melanoma.

Many people have misconceptions about how to protect moles from the sun. It is not advisable to re-glue them, as this can cause them to peel and sweat. We recommend applying a sunscreen with a factor of at least 30 or 50 at least half an hour before sunbathing.

Just because you have moles doesn’t mean you have to have them examined several times a year. However, if you suspect that the mole has changed, enlarged, or if its edges are irregular and its colouring is inconsistent, see a dermatologist.
